I started this blog to reach to other teachers who were full of creative ideas and to get an outlet to share my own. I think it is really important for teachers to share best practices, what works, what doesn't and fun ideas so as many children as possible can benefit from them :) I like creating and selling on TeachersPayTeachers.com as well as highlight resources from other I have found that work great in the classroom. Teaching is a passion of mine, and 2013-2014 will be my 6th year teaching.
I have taught 5th grade science every year, and while doing that, I have also taught 6th grade science and 5th grade math. I have run a cooking club, craft club, and science club for my students, along with Science Saturdays once a month for students who are struggling to come in, solve a crime, and reinforce some basics and content skills along the way.
My family is very important to me. I have 2 kids, a 1 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. You will see my daughter's hands holding things up in blog post pictures a lot. She is a big science nerd, and loves helping me with activities and coming to school with me. My son is a physical carbon copy of my husband, who is an all hours police officer. Being a Police Wife truly is an experience, and I may need to blog about that later!
Did I mention I teach in Texas? That is important. We have our own standards here, so when everything out there is aligned to CCCS, it is hard sometimes to match things up to our standards.
I love colors, and I make everything as colorful as possible. I also add coconut to as many foods as possible ;) I bake, create, craft, play on the floor with the kids, host, share, collaborate, and love to try new things!
